Review of the Tattoo Art Fest 2010, Paris :

This was my first tattoo convention ever and I’m more than glad that I could share this experience with my friend Sarah. I got to go there on the last day of the convention which means Sunday, September the 19th. This day there were special exhibitions like a BMX demo and the contest for the « best big piece » of the convention.

I got to see awesome pieces and amazing artists. It made me more conscious of the difficulties I will go through to become one of them. And also, when I asked some of them to advise, I realized that the Tattoo community is not as unified as I thought. Someone told me that I had to put my personality and style in my artwork and try to find a tattoo parlor to observe what the work consisted in… And some other told me that personality didn’t count and that fitting in was more important if I would like to succeed. Nowadays tattoos don’t mean outsider, or at least not as much as it used to. Now, it’s just a mass product as a piece of cloth or a jewel could be but more permanent. On one hand it’s a good thing cause now people tend less to point at you if you got tattoos but on the other hand, I feel that sometimes people get tattoos just to be hype. Anyway, this experience reinforced my will to become a tattoo artist and even more to leave France.

Also, I wanna thank Sarah for being by my side on this special day. It was awesome to see you again and I hope this would happen again soon. From cyber-friends we soon became real friends. Now I wanna bring you in all my crazy adventures cause hey, nobody else can stand me. (: Much love. ♥

Joke.
